BC-002 sheep farming

project

For centuries the highlands of Cymru/Wales, both its rural communities and landscape, were formed by sheep farming. The woollen industry in Wales was a major contributor to the national economy, accounting for two-thirds of the nation’s exports in 1660. The peek population was 11.8 million in 1999. By 2024 there were 8.7 million sheep and lambs.
